Romania Doftana Prison
Doftana prison was built in 1895 and in 1921 was used to detain prisoners. It now lies abandoned. It is known for its unforgiving conditions for political criminals, mostly communists. Inside, there are 308 cells split into eight sections. A lot of the long-term prisoners were treated very badly with little light and food, and had a routine of solid labor. The officers did not care about the prisoners, who often did not have shoes or clothes.
