USA Eastern State Penitentiary

Eastern State Penitentiary was one of the world’s most expensive prisons and wandering around, it certainly felt more extravagant and impressive than a lot of the prisons I have been inside; with large sky lit cells, long, high corridors and grand architecture. It definitely felt as though it could not have been the worst place to be imprisoned. In Eastern State Penitentiary, Al Capone’s cell still exists. Nicknamed ‘Scarface’, Capone got his first taste of prison life here in Philadelphia, USA. He was imprisoned for carrying an unlicensed revolver outside a cinema, sentenced to one year and served eight months. His cell was rather extravagant full of antique furniture, paintings, lamps, rugs and even a radio.
